Anyone who has a salaried employment relationship in Spain is usually automatically insured with the state-run Seguridad Social health and care insurance.
The benefits of long-term care insurance are based on the needs of policyholders and are very extensive and diverse. Depending on the need for care, a distinction is made between three levels of care:
People who need help with personal hygiene, eating or moving at least once a day and who also have to be assisted several times a week with home care. The care is at least 1.5 hours daily.
People in need of care who need help at least three times a day at different times of the day and who also have to be assisted several times a week with domestic care. The care required is at least three hours a day.
Persons who need daily assistance around the clock in personal hygiene, food and moving and in addition several times a week assistance with the domestic supply depend on support. The maintenance effort is at least five hours a day.
